Is a Coleman Sundome Tent for You?

Thursday, October 8th, 2009

With so many choices in tents do you know what sort of tent you are looking for? There are several varieties of tents and all of them have their special benefits.  You can break tents down into three basic types the A – Frame tent, the cabin tent and the dome tent such as the Coleman Sundome tent. When you think about a tent the one that you picture in your mind is most likely the classic A-Frame tent that we all grew up with and was popularized by boy scouts and army tents. But this tent is no longer the most common tent you will find for sale, as it is the least efficient.

A-Frame tents have two main poles one on each end of the tent which hold the tent in the shape of an A, there is usually a pole that connects the two. These tents offer little head space or room to move around and although they take little room in the bag and are light they are for the reason of space not as popular as the Coleman Sundome Tent.

Cabin tents are much larger and certainly have a lot more room that the A-Frame tents, while they offer a lot of benefits for the larger family these tents can be very complicated to put together can be big heavy and take up a lot of space. These tents are great for taking the family camping as they often have 2 or more rooms and offer enough sleeping room for a family of seven or nine.

The dome tent such as the Coleman Sundome tent is perhaps the most popular tent available on the market. They are easy to put together, light and easy to carry and offer more head room and room to move around than the A-Frame tents do. Because they have more frame strength that the other models dome tents are better for windy conditions and they tend to repel rain and snow much better. The only disadvantage to the Coleman Sundome tent is that it is not meant for very large families, which for most campers is not an issue. You will be able to sleep as many as five people in these tents.

These tents are perfect for taking on hiking trips with you and are complete waterproof. The Coleman Sundome tent measures 10×10 and is 72 inches at the center making plenty of room for you to stand up and move around.
